International dedicated logistics line express delivery has now become quite prevalent. Various e-commerce platforms both at home and abroad are promoting global shopping, overseas shopping, and cross-border shopping. This necessitates extremely robust dedicated line coverage capabilities for cross-border and transnational logistics on a global scale. Sending international express is categorized into import and export. Although they are all express services, there are significant differences between international cross-border express and domestic express. Currently, apart from professional logistics agency companies engaged in cross-border business or foreign trade companies, many individual users are not well-versed in the rules. Below, we will introduce the basic knowledge of the precautions for international dedicated line express delivery, popularize express delivery common sense, which will be convenient for everyone to use in the future. A dedicated line refers to an express delivery route specifically designed to reach a particular country or a continent. There are options of air freight (air transportation), shipping (maritime transportation), and dedicated line (truck transportation). There are numerous international express services, generally referring to those with a global service scope. Currently, the four major ones are UPS, FEDEX, DHL, and TNT.
Precautions for Sending International Express:
-
The weight of international express parcels is classified into actual weight and volumetric weight. The express delivery company will use the larger of these two weights as the basis for charging.
-
Calculation of volumetric weight:
(1). For the four major international express services DHL, UPS, TNT, and FedEx, the calculation method for the volumetric weight of parcels is: (Length × Width × Height) (cm) ÷ 5000. Note that the units of length, width, and height are in centimeters.
(2). For EMS (Express Mail Service), for parcels where any one of the length, width, and height sides reaches 60 cm or more, the volumetric weight is calculated. The formula for calculating the volumetric weight is: Volumetric weight (kg) = Length × Width × Height (cm) ÷ 8000.
(3). For goods in international express parcels that weigh less than 0.5 kilograms, they will be charged as 0.5 kilograms. Goods weighing less than 21 Kg (46.3 Ib) are charged according to the small cargo rate, with the charging based on the initial weight and the additional weight, and the charging unit is 0.5 Kg (1.1 Ib). Goods weighing 21 Kg and above are charged according to the large cargo rate.
The specifications of a single piece of goods in an international express parcel must ensure that: 1 × Length + 2 × Height + 2 × Width < 330 CM (The specifications required by each express delivery company may vary).
